YMCA Stars & Stripes

YMCA Stars & Stripes Golf Classic

The Stars & Stripes Golf Classic benefits military service members and their families!

The Armed Services Y at the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region has a mission to make military life easier. We do this by offering free or low-cost programs and services for military members and veterans and their families. Our three areas of focus - youth development, healthy living and social responsibility - allow us to support thousands of enlisted military personnel each year with the help of gracious donors and volunteers.

In 2017, we were able to provide $383,000 of financial assistance to military families.

Stars & Stripes Golf Classic Tournament & Golf Course Information

Foursomes will play a friendly 18-hole scramble tournament. In this tournament format, each player will hit from the tee box, then choose the best of the four shots for the next shot. All team members then play the second shot from that location and again choose the best shot. Play continues in this manner until the hole is completed. The team then records its score and maintains that format for all 18 holes.

Located at the foothills of the beautiful Rocky Mountains, the U.S. Air Force Academy is located northwest of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Spanning 18,000 spectacular acres, the Academy draws thousands of visitors from around the world each year. The Air Force Academy is the youngest of the U.S. service academies.

One of the most popular sites at the Academy is the Eisenhower Golf Course. A modern scenic facility with two 18-hole courses: the championship Blue and the stunning Silver. The Blue Course was recently named the top golf course in the Department of Defense by Travel and Leisure Golf magazine, and was also a previous member of USA Today's Top 100 courses in the nation. The Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed Blue Course opened in 1959 and stretches to almost 7,500 yards and offers wide fairways and challenging greens and has a slope rating of 137 and a 74.2 USGA rating.

    A Message from our CEO

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is honored to once again host the Stars and Stripes Golf Classic. This year we bring the tournament to the Eisenhower Golf Course at the United States Air Force Academy as we honor our service members.

With multiple deployments and the uncertainty of what's ahead, the Y is here to help ease some of the stress associated with military life. We connect families, provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and host year-round military appreciation events and programs. Through the generosity of our community champions, we served more than 8,960 military families in 2017.

The Stars and Stripes Golf Classic is one of the principal fundraising events for our military families. Your support will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of our military community.

We hope you will join others in the effort to support our military community in need by becoming a sponsor, sending a donation for the silent auction or golfing with us on August 22nd!
